Freezones were never a given, they must be created ! Having navigated Berlin for many years, the XLTerrestrials have observed that the territories for “free living” ( best defined for yourself ) have tragicly declined… and the city life is spiralling into a dismal normalized state. Fortunately the awareness is on the rise, and the time is ripe to take account of where your home is and when to fight for it:

( By no means is this all that is happening, afterall this is a mostly symbolic action, a demo march from here to there to rouse the solidarity spirit and inform the wider public, another small human-scale day going only as far as one day can go. Be creative, always take the longhaul view, and go beyond any given menu! )

If one can be optimistic, one could say, “Never fuck with the party people ! They have the potential to seduce the populous better than any political or commercial Spectacle.” While it will be hard to measure if this outburst of enthusiasm and frequently bold ( and surreal ) display of taking back the city can really halt many of those neo-liberal backroom planning parties, the MegaSpree action was one of the best party/demos this summer! And if you are one of the politicians positioning yourself on the wrong side of this neighborhood solidarity movement, you should be worried, very worried! Not only because the job of doing big business bidding invariably betrays the people’s desires, but because, as an unconscious cog in the machine, one is completely out of synch with how and where the spirit of Berlin comes alive. And Berliners are still the same vibrant tribe that don’t let political bullshit ride! An inspiring day!
